The "classic chrome" is really plastic painted silver and cannot stand the stress of normal use. Don't by this cheap product,
We've tried numerous ones, but a couple of them actually fell apart in my hand.My husband, who does most of the cooking, just said that this is the only can opener that actually works. Hamilton Beach 76380 Classic Chrome Can Opener - BLACKThis is one top notch can opener. I would recommend this to anyone, plus it is very reasonable price.
Heavyweight. Featherweight lever unit.
Will go back to that brand. Looks nice.
Plastic piece broke off - the piece that triggers the motor to run. Had an undercounter B&D for many years.
Thought it would a no-brainer that a $20 can opener would function. Maybe the base.
Will never open a single can with it.
I highly recommend this can opener. Oh, by the way, a few weeks after I bought this for my mom I asked her how she liked it, and she said they liked it better than any other can opener they had ever had. You also don't have to hold on to the can at all during the opening process and the top mechanics (silver in color) comes off with a push of a button and can be put in the dishwasher. It is a heavier weight than some, but that helps so that when you open heavy or big cans it never tips over. I told her I would get her one just like mine and ordered this from Amazon. I have owned this can opener for at least a year, and my mother mentioned they needed a new one and asked for my opinion. The price is great as is the can opener. There is also cord storage inside the unit.
We think the price we paid for it is pretty reasonable (less than 20$). You would need to learn how to properly position the can for it to work for you, but that just for the first few times you use it. A little heavy which is OK so it does not move while you are opening a can. Be careful not to hold it by the chrome top or the heavy black body may fall off. This has been serving us for over 2 years now. We love the strong magnet that holds the top of the can once it is opened. It is actually not a very complex machine at all.
